Greetings, funki!
Once again, there've been some major changes in the world of The funki as we wish keyboardist Sharif Mekawy good luck with his future exploits and thank him for his brief tenure as one of The funki. (We knew this day would come. Always remember, Sharif, once a funki, always a funki!) Dave Whittaker is also taking a break to focus on his studies and we'll surely miss him, as well, but the good news here is that we've captured some solid tracks with this version of the band for our next CD, and we can't wait to share them with you.
In the immortal quote from one of my favorite movies, however, "Never give up! Never surrender!" (Email me with the name of this movie and we'll send you a free sticker! Woo hoo!) Our next show will debut our newest members and longtime friends, Pat Coombs on the bass and Chuck Crawley on vocals, drums & percussion. Don't worry! Adam's not going anywhere! We're opening up the flavor rock to new horizons with the addition of a new voice percussion, or even dual drummers for select shows where the mayhem will surely ensue! Can you stand it???

NEXT MONTH: It's time again for The Songwriter's Showcases of America's 8th Annual DeLand Original Music Festival, the Southeast's LARGEST single-day event showcasing a huge variety of original music with 90+ acts on 18 stages throughout historic downtown DeLand. It's quite the yearly gathering with food, music and more all day & night from 1PM to 1AM and we highly recommend it! This year, Jambando returns! to bring some of Jambando's finest to Caffe da Vinci's outdoor stage, where funkUs traditionally ends the fest with a festival-ending jam featuring musicians from the entire day. We never know what's going to happen, or who'll end up onstage with us, but it's ALWAYS a memorable event. We'll see you there!!
